Ode to a Kiss

By Matthew Patterson

O perfect drop of foil-wrapped sweet!
Your maker I would like to meet!
Shake his hand, and pat him on the back!
For the depths of your rich taste
Eaten slowly or in haste
Restore to my life meaning it had lacked!

Your curvaceous form in my mouth dissolves, Causing my consciousness to evolve To a state no beast or Buddha ever knew. The world to me is flat and gray Without one chocolate each day. You make the sky shine azure, brilliant blue.

What can explain this strange affliction? You bind me forever in addiction, Yet I willingly submit to feel your bliss. I know that if I should abstain, My world would fill with naught but pain. Oh, never leave me, heavenly chocolate Kiss!
