For Krystal

By Richard Davidson

As life begins, we are free, and open
A pure product of love
The winds of the world blow freely through our
young, untouched souls
Slowly a wall is built
Through pain and doubt
And bad information

As we grow, we are faced with choice after choice
The road to wisdom
The miles we travel seep slowly into our
sad, weary hearts
Over time we acquire
Bitterness, glory
Or some combination

And where is love, in all our grand adventures?
What voice is there
That sings of all our promise as we lie down
to sleep in a strange place?
What price is paid
To awaken in the morn
Without a face upon my chest?

In finding you, I've found the music soars
Like breaking waves
That pound away the layers of disappointment
leaving a perfect heart
Beating with precision
Timed with one so true
Held within your breast
