An Eternal Cocktail

By Owen Rodgers

I ran out of my favorite liquer.
Putting away the new bottle, I noticed the cap was loose.

The side of bottle was sticky.
I wondered at it's leaking from the distillery to home.

I thought of the past Tylenol scares.
I thought of the poisoned people who had died innocently.

I wondered where my bottle had been.
Then I filled my glass, and shuddered at my willingness to drink.
