Perserverance By: demonchild13 on 7/14/2006; 12:36 AM What does it mean to have perserverance? To some its classified as being stubborn and perserverance means different things to different people. Me, I never quite understood what perserverance was until I joined an elite soccer club team. They would drill us until we were about ready to collapse from exhaustion. We have 4 coaches, one for just conditioning, that's all she would do, just teach us how to get it bettter shape. And half the team was made up of track stars, most of them could run a mile in under 7 minutes 30 seconds. Me I was proud to get an 8:30 mile at school and needless to say I was not the star of the team. I tried out and didn't make it, then the main coach called me up, he's one of my best friend's dad's so I knew him pretty well and he told me that he needed a goalie. Now honestly if I had needed to go to a tryout I probably would've turned him down, but no instead he told me that there had already been a tryout for Goalies, and the only ones that wanted to play goalie were me and another girl. She didn't make the team either, but I had naturally assumed that if I didn't get the spot then she would. So that's how I made it on the team. I don't know why but somehow I'm the only one on the team who doesn't mind all the running we have to do. It may seem odd but to me its a chance to get in better shape. It's not exactly all kicks and giggles knowing that everyone one else is better. But anyways I now know that I have enough perserverance to continue playing for the team. If I didn't than I wouldn't still be there. Keep going, keep going, I would always think to myself. One more step, one more step. To perservere is to keep going when you have no reason to.
