Is that why everyone here is standing? Yes. I heard some people saying “Oświęcim”. I heard them too, son. Is that where we’re going? No. Oświęcim no longer exists. What do you mean? They renamed it, remember? The soldiers. But it’s still there, isn’t it? It’s all in the name. The name? Oświęcim is beautiful, and you think of that when you hear it. And now we don’t? Now we don’t. After all . . . Papa? Auschwitz doesn’t sound half so beautiful.
