Silence
By: Stephanie on 5/19/2003; 7:50 PM

Shut up! Be quiet! Leave me alone! GIVE ME SILENCE!

Please! Just don’t say anything.

I have a headache and I need to concentrate on my work. Why do you always talk to me when I am trying to concentrate? Just leave the room, go outside and talk on the phone.

Please! Just leave me alone.

I’m tired with stress and want to go to bed Why are grades so important to you? Just let me study. Stop talking about my grades and let me make them.

Please! Just let me think.

I need my space and no talking. How do you expect me to do any work if you are talking? Just get out of my face. Please! Just stop doing everything while I’m studying.

I have three tests tomorrow and two projects the next day. Why do you have to be my mother? I ah…

WAIT! Did I say that out loud? Oops!

Please! Just listen to me for a second.

I still need you. Why do you do everything with me? Just give me a little more space.

Please! I love you.

No rain
No seed
No dreams
No silence
Far away today
Mama ocean hold me to you
Rock me on your waves
And tell me...
Is it all true?

That is from Heart's first album, "Dreamboat Annie." It says "lyrics by Heart," but I'm guessing it was Ann and Nancy. The song is called "Soul of the Sea," and you absolutely NEED to hear it. RUN out and buy a copy of the CD, and listen to it carefully.

The angst in Ann Wilson's voice when she sings "no silence," is wonderful, and evocative of the feeling portrayed in your poem. Don't dismiss this as some useless, anonymous internet command; I'm not kidding. You NEED BADLY to hear this song. It will change your life forever.

The rest of the album's pretty good, too. Why are you still here, reading this, when you could already be on your way to the record store?

Actually, I'm more of a music fan than an advertiser, but It's All Right Ma (I'm Only Bleedin'.)

That's the one where Dylan says,

"He not busy being born is busy dying."

I only mention songs that support what artists are saying. Another cool song that Stephanie may enjoy would be "Mother, mother" by Traci Bonham:

"I'm hungry
I'm dirty
I'm losing my mind
Everything's fine

I'm freezing
I'm starving
I'm bleeding to death
Everything's fine"

The way she screams "Everything's fine," is too much.

By the way, the Dylan song was because something cool by Chie. Does anybody remember what it was?
