Frozen Candle By: R.A.B. on 3/23/2003; 8:12 PM Time has frozen still for you; your beauty has been seen- for ages unbound, untouched-so still. Through aeons you stood- watching men through his foolishness- through all his goodness. The mountain goats you've sheltered- ancient men you've preserved- into your icy cellars. And for the modern world you've brought so much fun and laughter, skiing, boarding down your frozen slopes. In your stony grasp, your icy touch- they've found the comfort mother nature's got to offer. Overlooking these hills. your white beauty stands motionless near the as timeless sky- Freezing my eyes, To your magnificence- Ignoring the fields, the trees, the grass, the women-everything there is. for now you stand above all- with your head, the Matterhorn- Icy and heaven like- cold yet filled with care. Oh snow-capped Alps- do not leave this dark world- stand still for years to come, for my sons,my grandsons, my descendants. for you are one of the few candles that light this dark world. Your frozen warmth must cary on, to warm a cold man's heart- like me your admirer, trudging along these hilly paths of life.
