1 Literature: A Class of Hard Knocks By: Andrew Guerrero on 10/3/2002; 6:01 AM Come simper us down. Down to your own simultude, for we savages deem uncultivated in your sullied specatcles. But then I aspire to explain and apologize. What right do I claim to complain? Still phlegmatic and flamboyant within the realms of the flimsical. How good and right it is at first moments reach. Now landed in your self-righteous feet, "Lacks spontaneity. Let's preach." Isolated in the corner upon the beating of my choice. None matters unitl spoors led me to completion. My time away from frolick. But dear Mediocrity dare protest, "LET THEM BE BE AWARE. LATER ASSESS." Passively all agreed and were molded. One then stopped awed at my eroded penis. It's notification knightly crowned me illustrious Ignorant of the soon to be notorious.
RE: 1 Literature: A Class of Hard Knocks By: Chris Link on 9/28/2002; 7:52 PM I might not have the requisite internal landscape to understand this poem but it does raise images of anticipating meaningful and dynamic settings, only to find that those in charge are stuck in some kind of knowing or academic rut. It seems as if the writer then goes out on a limb, (at the risk of being vulgar, "shooting his wad"), drawing the ire of the leader/teacher but gaining some fame among the other participants. In any case, there are several things I like about the poem. It seems to have a cadence not reliant on the meter. I even like the use of "novel" words. I like it. Glad you posted.
RE: 1 Literature: A Class of Hard Knocks By: Rachelle King on 10/1/2002; 11:50 PM Dope. What inspired this piece? Mass societal assimilation? It seems like a teacher or professor was cruel or disagrees with your perspective. Just curious...
RE: 1 Literature: A Class of Hard Knocks By: Andrew Guerrero on 10/9/2002; 3:01 AM This piece I wrote for the wonderful people at the Writer's Guild in my university. This was just a first impression towards them. At first glance, I saw them like they were these white-suited Europeans ready to feast at our ignorance. Nevertheless, they were great.
RE: 1 Literature: A Class of Hard Knocks By: Rachelle King on 10/9/2002; 12:09 PM Ah yes, I used to visualize individuals from any outside school writing event like that. See, I graduated from and attented a low-income , un-"caucasian" high school. Ours was the only one like it in the district: When we showed up to some "cultured" event as a group, people always insinuated the worst. I guess we did too, which didn't make us any better. In hindsight, I wish I had been more congenial. I have come to see prejudice in any form, from either side, as unacceptable. There are so many similarities we can learn about in eachother, and so many differences to share and overcome. Okay, I am now disengaging from philosophic mode...

RE: 1 Literature: A Class of Hard Knocks By: Daryl Del Rosario on 11/22/2002; 7:04 AM Dude, white-suited Europeans? Well we did wear white and we still do, but Europeans? In any case, this poem explains a lot about your opinion on the rest of us, hehe. Can we keep your notebook full of thoughtlines and stuff?
RE: 1 Literature: A Class of Hard Knocks By: damnthree on 3/8/2003; 10:48 AM Isolated...perhaps...but then they should consider what could be their future on literature,,,concentrated, consistent, academic writers in their own suffering in isolation..that would do a big influence to their writing... Some people don't care and some doesn't know what literature is...and some don't even know what literature is all about, not a single word they could think to fit "Literature",,, "they are great but too innocent for their words..." for 1 Literature: A Class of Hard Knocks -damnthree

RE: 1 Literature: A Class of Hard Knocks By: Andrew Guerrero on 5/2/2003; 2:22 PM If you people hadn't noticed yet, I intended to make this a sort of "mediocre". I was trying to show that arrogant ignorance of young people who seem to know a lot about literature and it's trade.
