hypocrite By: Chie Theresa Fujioka on 4/15/2002; 5:45 AM I longed to kiss the budding tulip on thy face... but I cannot, for to do so would be the very consumation of that dishonesty which I have scorned through idealized love. How then would my love be more special than useful lust? How could I say "I love" without believing it only equal to destined hate? Cease this madness of tempting me with the very fruit of Eden. It floats rich and lush, and unattainable in my vision. I cannot stand, for my mind has little strength over my heart. God sustain my weakened flesh! So sweet looks this cursed cup, that both to drink and to abstain would be poison to my soul. I break my heart by my own folly. But soft, I must hold steady to my course, though winds break me and dash my dying dreams upon dreary cliffs. Though my mast be snapped betwixt blue heaven and blue hell, though the despair I have woven about my heart choke me, oh soul, stay still. Thy space is short, and fate allows no steerage.
