Matt even wrote formatting instructions for me. Jody, when you double space the system handles that the way you'd expect: by double spacing. But single spacing doesn't work that way. For poetry, you can either put <br> at the end of every line where you want single spacing, or put <pre> at the beginning of the poem, and </pre> at the end. The pre tags is an easier solution. If you submit items through the mailing list all the single spacing works the way you'd expect it, which makes it an ideal way to post poems.

You could put those instructions on JUST the message creating/editing page (the page with the form), so that they wouldn't waste space in the rest of th site. Seth

I have expanded and cleaned up Matt's original post a bit, for readability. I'm out the door, but I don't see why I can't add a short form of the formatting instructions to the bottom of the posting form. Hopefully later today.
