Electric Blue By: Andrew Paul McEwen on 10/21/2001; 6:23 PM The sky's golden waves undulate back and forth across a slow, partially lit sky. They each barely reach the place from which they began bellow the setting sun. Far past the eye's sight that place lays, but you know it's there. That place is where you will be, but not today. Today you have the electric blue sky above you and the sleeping lava bellow you. Today you have the butterfly of deep green emeralds that lands on your finger while its mate flutters about with the sun gleaming off the shine of its ruddy body of rubies. You begin to walk towards the mystery of the land far away, but you begin to question whether it is the sunset that you walk towards, or the possibilty of acquiring something nobody yet knows of or has. You begin to wonder what you look for, and see, in yourself. You begin to wonder why you have sympathy for animals, but give the death penalty to those of your own species, your own animal species. You contemplate right and wrong, yet ask why other animals have no right or wrong, only survival. Yet through all of this torturous introverted examination, a sapphire butterfly flutters near you and lands softly on your nose.
