Thought 6 (Secrets)
Secrets. Secrets are told to your best friends, family, and other persons whom you trust. But how often do you end or start with the following phrase, "don't tell anyone", or "if you tell another living soul what I am about to tell you..." Never do this because often the person cannot handle all of the secretive pressure and will inevitably tell someone. This is the most often made blunder of secret telling. It is better to either not tell the secret or if you must get it off your chest place little or no importance on it when you tell it. That way the listener will have little or no pressure and won't spill it because they feel that it has no importance and won't top what the other guy said or the plans for the weekend. Now, as far the person you are telling the secret to, I would suggest your family first or most trusted friend, or even a counselor or psychiatrist. These are all people who trust you with secrets, love you, or are sworn to confidentiality. Another place that is good to tell secrets are in a diary or journal, I recommend a journal because it, well, doesn't sound so girly and gradeschool-ish. It sounds more sophisticated. So think about it, secrets are meant to be secretive. Try not to tell anyone and if you are getting told the secret, keep it and maybe they'll keep yours. The only time you should ever tell a confidential secret is in the cases of for example sexual abuse, fraud, and other things dealing with the law. Do not tell just anyone either in this case. Consult someone who can help and perhaps specializes in the specific field. Well, that's all the help I can give. Good Luck and happy secreting.
