The whole world died,
but I did not know.
For atop a lonely hill I did abide,
where the wind of emotion did not blow.
I needed no one by my side.
I was happy even though
to myself I lied.

Not only is that a fantastic poem, but I'm so glad somebody finally got Tallulah Bankhead into the discussion! Thank you for a very excellent post, that will be the last thing I read tonight. Good Night!

Tallulah Bankhead was an actress from the 30's.
