And now, the next president of the United States...STROM THURMOND!!

Okey doke.

In the event that this election is still tied up in the court system by inauguration day, then Dennis Hastert will be sworn in as prez. In the event that Denny is unable to take office, STROM THURMOND will become our 43rd president! Yeah, you heard me. To make matters worse, in the event that Ole' Strombo is unable to take office, then JESSE HELMS will become prez 43! Ahhh! Whoever is losing by the end of next week when all the absentee ballots are counted in Florida better damn well concede, or else it's possible (though not exactly likely) that one of those two nuts will be our ruler.

I can see it now:

Strom:I do declare that my first act as president will be to make the position of grand dragon an official cabinet post...

Ugh. Makes you sick just thinking about it.

Strom would be boring, but I personally would love to see Helms in the job.
For the past 8 years you've had Clinton go nuts with these executive orders
and liberal Democrats and others defend every time he uses them to usurp
the power of the Congress and states. It would be hilarious to watch
liberals run in terror as a right wing as opposed to left wing nut started
exercising those powers (and yes, technically the real abuse of executive
orders began with Reagan, but Clinton really took that precedent and ran
with it in ways that even Reagan would have been embarassed at).
