Could you repeat that?
By: Mark Morgan on 4/20/2000; 10:30 PM

I got up this morning, and the world was different than it was yesterday. Stan Lee is writing for DC comics.

No, that's not right.

STAN LEE IS WRITING FOR DC COMICS!!!!

That's simply impossible. My brain refuses to connect with such an absurd concept. Stan "The Man" Lee. The voice of the Marvel Superhero Hour. The narrator of "The Spider-Friends". The guy who made "Excelsior!" the code word for "I'm cool because I read comic books." Stan freaking Lee!

There is no one who is associated more with Marvel Comics. Writing for DC. DC! That's the other company! That's the wrong company. That's not Marvel, dammit. I'd notice if it were. DC is spelled different.

Good grief. The Pope's going to convert to atheism next.

I'm actually pretty excited to actually be reading Stan Lee again. It's some kind of alternate world thing. I haven't bought a comic book in a long time, although I used to collect. That was in the 80s, when everybody collected and the market was overpriced and silly. Now the collector's market is much reduced, and everything is still overpriced and silly. But I don't buy comics that cost as much as lunch. Two comics are one good book, and that makes the case for me right there.

But Stan Lee! I might dig into the savings for that. I'll just glue a the Marvel logo on the cover and pretend. Nobody need know the difference.
