Among the stones of sand By: darrell phillps on 1/8/2005; 1:03 PM Scattered remains of fragmented mountains Strewn in patternless patterns in uptown yards Concrete children play unmoving among them As the glasshouse flora stands guard Winter approaches, the petal sentries depart Into humbling states of composting composure Leaving the stones with no counterpart To make clear their outstanding exposure Concrete children never grow up They just stain from the frost and black rain In season of sleep when the garden is grim The children frozen stealthy hide their pain Wishing wells pool in the dips of the rocks That were birthed from grains washed in sea spray In renaissance Spring, life awakens once more Among the stones of sand that cannot roll away Darrell Phillips 4-26-04
