Block By: R.A.B. on 5/19/2003; 8:55 PM I abhor this raging feeling-, It’s accursed senility that embeds on my soul! Whence crap has imploded upon my heart... where a fools mind contradicts my soul. Burying into the deepest core- Or putting upon the grandest pedestal- The soulful art beyond my reach- my distaff...my chisel...my hand. Like a foul demon it reside within- Myself...taking away the ability- My ability, to create...to mould...to build. For the saddest of nights it would always be- till someday I break through the filthy chains it has bounded my very morality, my being. Then sunlight would invade my life once again- Till only then...the block still lives.
RE: Block By: Richard Davidson on 5/19/2003; 11:02 PM Dude, the Chinese, particularly Tsaoists, speak of something called "the Uncarved Block." This is what one must become in able to absorb the truth of life. We have been conditioned since birth to view the reality of life in a certain manner. This manner is extremely limited, and forces us to be blind to certain conclusions that lurk around every corner, waiting to illuminate us. On must be that uncarved block of wood, and allow the Universe to etch it's meaning upon the smooth surface of nothingness, letting knowledge and wisdom become a part of our deeper selves. You can only teach me something if telling me about it causes you to learn something too. That is the wisdom you will take to bed tonight. That, and that alone.

RE: Block By: Richard Davidson on 5/20/2003; 12:47 AM Start with Bruce Lee. He has an excellent outlook, and is very capable of explaining Eastern ways in Western terms. I find myself reading from the Tsao de Ching quite a bit. I don't claim to understand a single word, but I don't claim not to, either. I just let it wash over me like water, and hope something worthwhile comes of it. Not only do the Chinese understand quite a bit about Man, but they are alot of fun at parties. The next time you're going to throw a party, see if you can get the Chinese to come. You'll see what I'm talking about in no time at all. And they don't waste a bunch of time on all that "tree falling in the woods" crap.
