A Tale of Terror
By: Matthew Patterson on 10/21/2001; 6:37 PM

(Thank God for parody!)

Hear the screaming of the bells –
Schoolyard bells!
What a world of boring thought their shrill shrieking compels!
In the middle of the day,
How they induce our dismay!
And the evil ones, they smile
At this, our time of trial
Because it means we must obey!
And every time, time, time,
We see their happiness sublime,
And it causes us to wonder if their odd cruelty swells
With the bells, bells, bells, bells,
Bells, bells, bells, –
With the waxing and the waning of the bells!
