Musings on the subject of Revolution
By: Matthew Patterson on 3/5/2003; 10:15 PM

Words escape in frantic spurts
Causing unintentioned hurts
Control eludes you once again
Discipline to stop the pain
Experience earned will help allay
Nouns and verbs you use to flay
Learn to seek and you will find
Revolution of the mind

A whispered word, a calming hand Bring peace to beloved woman or man Find in yourself faith, hope, and love Virtues earned from sky above Banish all cruelty, hate despise Become worthy in their eyes From loved ones never set apart Revolution of the heart

It whirls around you, dark and deep That world you visit in your sleep Utopia, though dimly seen, In imagination's eye does gleam Your flailing digits cannot feel What you can plainly see is real In this world a spark ignite Revolution of the sight

Stand poised at the divided street Save or damn all those you meet By your own hand the world remake The strength of all free creatures break Or step off from the path entire Observe the world from gilded spire To integrate and make you whole Revolution of the soul

Poems like this are really good
Making us read, like we should
A hungry wombat on a stick
A tired taxi watched the flick
Of spark of life unto us all
Reasons to our hearts enthrall
Thank you Matthew, thank you birds
Revolutions of mere words

(That was meant as a compliment; sorry it got so weird.)

You'd be surprised how often that happens to me!
