Front Yard at Dusk By: Richard Davidson on 7/1/2002; 11:29 PM Torches burn in the twilight's hue Shadow dances with light The scent of trees Soft in the breeze A whisper upon the night I stand in perfect silent awe My arms around my wife's waist As kittens play And run astray So much they have yet to taste And a mouse is running across the field Unaware of the hawk circling near Unfazed by man It's nature's plan That cat will first get him, I fear Such a playful, dangerous balance Our awareness, and our dream A gift so rare Yet everywhere A leaf upon a stream
RE: Front Yard at Dusk By: Chie Theresa Fujioka on 7/4/2002; 9:21 PM You have torches in your yard?? *jealous* i like mucho... except for the cat getting the mouse. that is bad! i like mice. mice are nice. we interupt our feature presentation for this brief announcement: Chie is crazy. Now back to the show I think there is an incongruity in the third stanza... its a bit less abstract than the others, and i feel like shouting PANAMA! but it is excellent. you know, you should write stuff about your wife more! off the rocker and into the fire chie
RE: Front Yard at Dusk By: Richard Davidson on 7/7/2002; 5:34 PM We have come to accept our kitties for the ruthless killers that they are. At least these cats EAT that which they kill. No trophy hunters in this bunch. The torches only cost about $7.00 apiece for the big ones, and three for $1.50 for the small ones, so YOU TOO can have torches in your yard. Unless, of course, you don't have a yard. Lighting Citronella torches indoors is insane, even by your standards, my friend, so I don't recommend doing so. And just so you know, I WROTE THAT POEM with the sole intention of making you shout "PANAMA!" So once again, I win.
