RE: Unfaithful is damn near unwatchable! (Movie Review) By: ScottN on 5/13/2002; 12:38 PM It was unwatchable... Of course, I didn't really want to see it, but Mrs. ScottN did... so...
RE: Unfaithful is damn near unwatchable! (Movie Review) By: Brian Webber on 5/14/2002; 12:25 AM Why do women seem to LOVE these movies where wives cheat on their husbands? Hell, in some movies (i.e. ones shown on Lifetime) it's almost always shown as a romantic thing, and we're supposed to root for this girl! Of course it's either that, or the wife just uses the guy to kill her hubbie.
RE: Unfaithful is damn near unwatchable! (Movie Review) By: Richard Davidson on 5/14/2002; 8:13 PM Brian, I assure you, my wife does not LOVE movies where wives cheat on their husbands. My ex girlfriend did, and that's why SHE'S not my wife. A little too much of her artistic bent spilled into real life, if you catch my drift. Now, I'm not saying ALL women who LOVE movies where wives cheat on their husbands are cheaters themselves, but believe me, they AT LEAST bear watching. She does watch movies on Lifetime, though, and I have to admit, that'll get me out of the room in a pretty big hurry. I just have to trust that she's not rooting for the evil girl, but usually she just tells everybody on the screen how stupid they are, in a very authoritave voice, which is about what I do while watching "Crossfire" upstairs. So it all works out in the end, I hope. By the way, my beef with the movies on Lifetime has nothing to do with content. It's the constantly poor direction, mixed with soundtracks that have NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with what you're seeing, and camera work that 2nd year film school students could make mincemeat of that sets my teeth on edge. The acting? My God, who could say, when you look at the material they get to work with! I'm sure some of this people, Judith Light, or whatever, could probably act if they had a script, but we all know they don't, and it shows. That soundtrack thing really pisses me off, by the way, and if you ever can stomach sitting through one of those things, or if your girlfriend makes you, pay close attention to what you're seeing, vs. what you're hearing. It's quite the war, I guarantee it! Alka Seltzer, Brian. You'll need plenty of it!
RE: Unfaithful is damn near unwatchable! (Movie Review) By: Brian Webber on 5/15/2002; 12:29 AM As a maker of soundtracks myself (The L.I.C.C. and Archangel tops amongst them), I fully understand what you're saying. A soundtrack has to do more than just provide a nice rythym for sequences where alot of action (by action I means lots of movement, not neccesarily explosions and fights and stuff) takes place, but also the music should at least SOMEWHAT represent the characters. A good example. I'm no big fan of the movie The Craft (in fact I think it blows), but I do think the use of the song How Soon Is Now fits quite well for the main plot. In particular the chorus line of "I am human and I need to be loved."
