Newsummer resolutions
By: Mark Morgan on 6/13/2000; 6:15 PM

The beginning of the year is a dumb time to make resolutions. It's winter, you're cranky, and quite frankly you don't have a ton of time to do anything about your resolutions. You're working! The weather isn't great! You're not inspired! Summer is a much better time. That's when I do my resolutions.

Summer's on it's way, and I'll make my resolutions next week. I know one of them right now: I resolve to stop posting dumb things on the Conversant support site. For my next feature request, I'm going to request the ability to type words onto a screen. Wouldn't that be cool? You press some sort of button in front of you, and a letter appears on some sort of television thing. Yeah, that's what I want.

Then we'll work on some way to work the telephone into the thing. That would be cool.

As freaked out and f***ed up as this seems,
it has suddenly occured to me
I've never really trusted my body, any more
than I've trusted my motorcycle,
not to just fall apart when I take it up to speed.
I've been secretly afraid, all my life, that I could just die
from my out-of-synch pounding heartbeats
Just as I feared my motorcycle would
vibrate to pieces underneath me.
I've spent some time with both my body and my motorcycle,
and have come to have some faith in their makers
Running two miles in the rain makes me feel 28 again,
and I hauled a** and passed a Vmax after watching the
movie, "The Gladiator".
Simple mathematics-the greater the fear, the greater the joy
in building courage.
