a bird a shell and life
By: Chie Theresa Fujioka on 10/21/2001; 3:51 PM

while on the beach
to a shell i reach
the scent of death and decay
intrinsic part of ocean spray

and the beautiful thing
which so often eludes me
is but now broken wing
which once flew ever freely

on this shell of my dream
the crawling beasts deem
to make the flesh of the dead
that by which they are fed

He knows the bird fell
but what good does that do
as far as i can tell
the days are gone when it flew

the greed of the wormy fire
as of yet still refuses to tire
now they've eaten the skull
and it's unrecognizable

i found a dead sparrow in my yard today. the second in this spot... i think a cat is getting them... either that or my spotless windows. anyway this one was crawling with maggots. it made me sad.

but evan doesnt need to cheer me up :)

Well its good that you don't need cheering up, I've been quite busy today cheering up people at LSU freshmen orientation, although the job was made much easier by the latex glove and kazoo I brought with me. Maggots have killed two of my pet fungi, in fact getting eaten by maggots is the only way my pet fungi ever die, unless they are thrown away by certain anti fungus members of my family. It makes me sad too but as long as I keep the jar air tight, the maggots die off and the fungus eats them!!!! Turnabout is fair play!

You have pictures of fungi? Me too, I think I'll attach one. This is Bob IV who was my fifth fungi after Fred and the previous three Bobs.

Actually those are not his nutrition facts, but the nutrition facts of the planters nut container that was his terrarium. That was a picture of his profile which shows up more clearly because he's wearing a nametag which blocks most of him in the frontal picture. Here is his frontal picture.
