And a brief explanation By: Mark Morgan on 5/2/2000; 4:35 PM Addendum: nothing personal against Christians or the Bible! I recently got in a repetitive debate about the "meaning" of Revelation and I've once again become convinced that I will never understand the distinction between what is supposed to be taken as strictly literal, and what is supposed to be metaphorical. My problem is I'm debating the same five people over and over again. What do we have to say to each other that we haven't said before? Nothing, that's what. I try not to be discouraged, but I am. Am I just to dense to figure this out? Is it obvious to everyone but me what's going on in the Bible? I just got into it about 1 Timothy 2:13-15. Where in verse 15 is the obvious reference to Christ? I don't see it! I don't. "All atheists miss the obvious." Tired, cranky, and feeling like I'm spinning my wheels about this. Time for a nap!
Re: And a brief explanation By: Sean McMains on 5/2/2000; 5:29 PM Hi Mark,
Just wanted to let you know that I'm working on an
answer to this question over on my site, where you asked me about it. It's an
important enough subject (to me, anyway) that I didn't want to whip off a glib
answer, but really put some thought into it. I don't know if I'll be able to add
anything to what your current 5 sparring partners have to say, but at least
you'll have another take on it.
Enjoy your nap! Wish I could have one...
;)
Sean
