The First Announcement of 2005

By Mark Morgan

Man, I don't know what it is but the end of the year the past couple of years has been an increasing rate of unhappy. Today I was absolutely furious and quite honestly walked out of a place and stopped doing something because the whole place made me mad.

Last year about September I got so unhappy at my job I quit. I managed to avoid it this year but not by much. Grrr! An issue with the temperature of my damn tea can set me off for ten minutes. It's cold again right now! Aaaargh!

So let's find some happy. I used to do this in the summer. I worked in education, and summer was that right time for me. Summer was a time of relaxation and renewal. Let the energy flow and the summer break slide one through from day to day. A perfect time to reflect. This year summer came and went and I hardly noticed it. Now the holidays have smacked me around some and I'm ready to smack the world back. Things that will make me happy to do in 2005, in no particular order:

  • Do more design. I just love doing web design. The web is so malleable and fun to play with. Doing things in pure css makes moving this and that around easier than changing the colors on the Lego plane you just made. We are front loaded this year with Yanisar's first major paying client (hi Brian!) and I have a dozen personal projects and dinking around in half-finished states.
  • Write more. Write more. Write more. Write more. Write more. Write more. Write more. Write more. Write more.
  • More writing.
  • Make Unreason better. Speaking of web design. You know what would rock? Richard Davidson saying I managed to make it better. Chie visiting more often than once upon a time. A raft of new Science is Cool stuff from ScottN. Matt Patterson's exalted presence. The return of all old lost friends. That would be cool.
  • The Rubicon. IF DAY=Today THEN it will not be the day when she has any reason to doubt her choices in life.
  • With the writing shall there be an increase.

What do you have?
