Jack took one look at the frozen hot dog package and swore outloud. He had bought this package at the discount food store, as he had been forced to do so ever since he had wasted all of his savings away in Vegas. The damnede food's expiration date had passed almost two weeks ago! How could he be possibly expected to eat this food? This fodder was fit only for the rats! Cursing the injusticecs of life and the world in general, he threw the package over the side of a dumpster and started walking top the Salvation Army soup kitchen.
Roberto was irritated. He had been snaeaking towards the border between MExico and Texas for 3 days now. He had not packaged enough food for the trip. Now, all he had to eat were these stiupid prickly pears! He was surrounded by acres and acres of the fruit. The purple flesh, the watery aste had become so familiar to him that he thought he would go mad if he ate the things much longer. He began to think about how the world was arrayed against him. Why was HE forced to live in such unhappiness? What had he ever done to deserve this kind of a life? Cursing, he threw the prickly pear he had been eating away from him.
Sen-Ling was in tears. Why wasz it that every day all she could possibly give her family was rice? Wild rice, at that? She had worked hard for the good of the country, why hadn't she been rewarded, as Mao had promised all those years ago? Lifting her arms to the heavens in a bescheeching gesture, she bemoaned her diet's monotony and furtively ate the only fish that the entire family had cauight uin the past month. After all, if the world was against her, why shuldn't she be agaisnt the world?
Mohammed was livid. Every day, he had to go to this stupid aid camp for food! He had never had to ask anyone for anything before that acursed tsyunami? The former grocer's place of work had been all but swept away by the force of the monstrous wave of water. His entire family had been killed! Why? He had never done anything wrong! He cursed and threw the meager dinner before him into the Indian ocean.
Evan was dying. He had been unable to get a job and had no family or freinds. The lack of food was finally beginning to take its toll on him. As his second kidney began to fail, he thought about all of the thingsd that he had been able to do. In his desparate travels, he had seen two oceans, five rivers, and a desert. As the toxic waste products of his body began to build up, he thought about his life in general. His last fading thought as the life left his body was "at least I got to see Miami."
The moral of this story is to be grateful for everything that you have. There is always someone worse off than you are. Most of all, DON'T waste food!
