In 1793, New York City's first daily newspaper, the American Minerva, was established by Noah Webster.

In 1851, the first YMCA in North America was established in Montreal, Quebec.

In 1961, the trial of Nazi Adolf Eichmann in Israel ended with him being found guilty of 15 criminal charges, including charges of crimes against humanity, crimes against the Jewish people and membership of an outlawed organization.

In 1968, Douglas Engelbart publicly demonstrates his pioneering hypertext system, NLS, in San Francisco. The NLS system was the first to employ the practical use of hypertext links, the mouse (co-invented by Engelbart and colleague Bill English), raster-scan video monitors, information organized by relevance, screen windowing, computer presentation (such as PowerPoint), and other modern computing concepts.

In 1993, in a mission that was an unqualified success, astronauts repaired the Hubble Space Telescope.
