Well, for starters you could not post the same message three times...is there a bug somewhere?

By health, do you mean mental or physical health?

I think if you're going to talk about how movies are bad for your health, you should also explore the perspective of how movies are GOOD for your health. Also, if a movie is ABOUT someone who is in bad health, is that worse for your health than a movie that's about someone who is in perfect physical condition? What about medical documentaries? Suppose you see a documentary about a rare disease, and recognize one of the symptoms, thus SAVING YOUR LIFE? What about fitness videos? Can you imagine the first time a ninety year old with a bad heart tried to "get physical" with Jane Fonda? What about the Peter Fonda workout? You know, the one where you get up, take a hit of acid, jog three miles to your sister's house and borrow money? That's gotta do SOMETHING to your health!

Also, if you're a smoker, and you see a movie in a theater, you can't smoke for the entire time you're in there. Now, if you merely rent the movie, and watch it at home, you'll smoke like a fiend. How many years are being added to the lives of the moviegoing smoker? This MUST be a critical element of your thesis, or everything you've ever stood for is crap. Your entire life will have been a lie, and frankly, I don't think you're ready for that.

And another thing: Why do people still smoke so much in movies? I find it so irritating, especially when jerks like David Lynch do closeups of the cigarette being lit, and put some cheesy "igniting sound" on the soundtrack, obviously exaggarated far beyond what even a seven year old Leprachaun would think of after drinking spoiled tea.

I think the best thing you could do, is to completely abandon your original idea, and write a nice poem about frogs. Frogs are underrated as potential subjects for classical poetry, and you could do something really tricky, like have the first line with seventeen syllables, the second with twenty three, the third with seven, the fourth with nine, and the next six all having one hundred sixty three. The first line would rhyme with the fourteenth, the second with the seventh, and so on in the same pattern until you realize you have too many lines. At this point, you could crumple the thing up into a ball, and throw it into the fire, and go back to your movie/health thing.

And if that doesn't work, try drinking yourself sick, and write about whatever you dream about.

May the universe never make it possible for Richard and Chie to be in the same room. It would be a critical mass of randomness and would suck the universe into its vaguely weird gravitational well.

That said, the train of consciousness brainstorming was invigorating to read.

lindsay,
Maybe you could compare statistics pertaining to the amount of peoples going to movies in the last year and the amounts of overweight peoples in one particular nation in the same year. You might be able to find evidence/research on this subject.

Mark, I need some help. I was trying to find my old poem, To Know The Truth
(don't ask me why, even I don't know). How could I find it? Since i'm not in
the authors page and I can't find it anywhere that I thought logical, I wanted
to know where it was.
